Put the rear shocks and springs together for the Creamsicle. FYI the reason I ask Perry Kiel how far from the top of shock to the ring was so I had the same distance of 200 mm.

After the 9/14 weekend event, really reminded me I needed new rotors. Got some steering wheel shimmy when applying the brakes.

Installed new pads and rotors. Having the old rotors turned and will keep as spares.

Put Koni's in 911 struts for the 1975 car. Used one of Bruce Stone's homemade locking tool.

let someone else drive it.

good friend g dutifully made it out to the workshop this sunday at 8.00am
first morning of daylight savings for upside down world spring/summer.

no-one on the roads. everyones bio clock out of whack due to eastern standard daylight saving time shift in the universe? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

we did two laps of the racecourse - about 20k, with proper corners and no SUVS holding us back. then i ducked into a near by industrial estate and threw her the keys.
she didn't see that coming. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
she insisted on one blocky with me directing her on the easy way to do the 1-2 shift.
let the car do it.........g (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

round and round she went. at least a dozen laps.
quite interesting standing on the sidewalk having a smoke watching it go past.
first time i have ever heard it cruise by in 36 years of ownership.
always been in it, not out of it.
very surprised how it did not sound like a volkswagen say of beetle variety or even kombi bus species - (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
very 356/912 ish? deep tone. and i was very surprised that you can hear fan noise

i run a standard VW muffler so its not loud. just a pleasant deep tone/beat.
i guess the long heat exchangers change the whole exhaust thing when compared to a standard old air cooled VW of the rear engine variety?
maybe it is a real porsche....... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
i like that its not loud and you can hear fan whirr. ok its not fan scream. but.......

when she finally pulled in and got out all she said was....."i can't believe the steering - its like nothing else i've driven." never a truer word spoken?

this girl can drive by the way. she could put me to shame.
i would not dare to challenge her to a dash through some cones.
family pedigree. they won the bathurst 500 in 1968.
she normally drives a citroen xantia, which she can toss through a corner when she wants to, while looking completely harmless. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Continued removing the tar from the floorboards...for whatever reason, it seems to come off the tunnel way easier than the floorboards themselves....

Finished installation of my rocker panels. Best spray paint job I could do. They needed a few modifications, but I managed.

See classified ad for my old ones.

I’m going to try and add some mounting studs to the engine lid grill.
Did some mods to some spot welder tips to hold the stud and to back it up.
I will do a mess of tests on a piece I’m not using on the car

Installed my Spokeworks LED tail lights, rear turn signals, and backup lights after work. Simple job and well worth the cost.

In all the noise around my MPS work, I forgot that I installed the @Spoke RTS to Brake Modules - easy and great result.

another sunday two weeks later in north antarctica and once again what did i do........
toss the keys.

someone has become addicted to the cornering characteristics of a 914. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
and has mastered the 1-2 shift and is now happily moving 2-3 and giving it some stick.
she had her race face on and i think she was imagining being in the bathurst 500 in 1969. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) but its not a holden monaro or a ford falcon gtho phase 1. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
she is going to have a hard time explaining to her father what she is doing driving a volkswagen / porsche. he was a g m (holden) man.

she keeps her head pointed in the right direction. where she is going.
im gonna give her some cones next. i reckon she would kill it in autocross. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

i'd like to say the circle work is ours, but i forgot the banana skins to help out the 1.8
the locals are responsible for this layer of tortured rubber in the industrial estate.

Attached Image

there was a little bonus action in the renault clio rs - she was driving it like nana and i told her to depress the loud pedal at least half way. that has triggered a new form of addiction. ah well. that can destroy tyres and leave some circle work as well as cause other forms of motoring joy in terms of straight line warp speed.
