Installed my new rear tail lights from Spoke today . My girlfriend saw these in Jerry's car at the WCR in June and really liked them so this was my birthday present.

Doing layout and noticed the bosses on the back of the emblem were longer than I thought. The thought of a washer didn't work for me, no matter what that would be all I'd see from the outside.

Attached Image

I had kept the holes in the grill snug on the bosses so I made these from 1/4" sweat on caps for 1/4' copper water pipe.

Attached Image

I will paint them with the same paint I do the grill materal in.

They pretty much disappear from the outside view.

Drove it 370 miles for a fall foliage tour with the cnypca. 120 miles to get to the start and 250 for the tour (which ended near my home).

I was the only 914, of course, but sadly I was also the only air-cooled.

There were 20 cars at the start and probably 25 at the end.

Pulled the bursch exhaust off, cleaned it all off with a wire wheel, painted it with a 2000 degree black paint, and reinstalled it with new gaskets.

Surprised you were the only AC'ed car!! Would love to do something like that but I haven't used the wipers on my '73 for over 20 years, and probably 30 years on my '71!

Well since I have the engine back out and apart to fix my out of round crank, I am fixing a few issues. I had a small leak from the front main seal that was due to the fan hub having some pitting and groves it it from the previous seal wear. I found a Speedo-sleeve the right size and put it on today. Worked perfectly! A few taps from my weighted rubber hammer….and bingo bongo….done!

Finally back from MN, so took some time to install the new rear signal and reverse light LEDs I got from Jerry at Spokeworks a few months ago:

Attached Image
parking lights on, signal lights off

Attached Image

NOTE: no lens on passenger side....

I also installed Jerry's RTS-to-Brake modules using "Configuration 1--RTS/Brake +Brake Only" as shown on the Spokeworks website. Hardest part was bending over into the trunk. Wife.gov was out picking up Halloween candy, so nobody to hit the brakes while I took a picture...but judging by the way the modified set-up lights up the inside of the garage door it will be a big improvement. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif)

Really nice work Jerry!

I fixed the odometer in my car. The metal gear that drives the numbers was spinning on the shaft. So I pulled it out and used a punch to crimp down the center hole a tad, and then reinstalled. Went for a short test drive and confirmed it now works.

Got in another 50+ miles on some great back roads here.

Posting these as a reminder to take it a little easy when sight-lines are limited. You never know who or what is lurking just over that next rise.

Put the black bi-turbo six back on the ground, after a 7 month refresh. Almost forgot how outrageous she feels ¡
