Santa arrived early, dropping off a new pair of independent throttle bodies... Funny how he knew exactly what I wanted.

Took the car out for it's 3rd extended drive.
My wife and I just went to lunch and grabbed some groceries but, (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) is all I can say.

My car has been neglected for a bit as we were busy elsewhere; but, it was finally time to get her on the lift and clean her up. That was a perfect way to begin the new year. That is Cosmoline on the engine case; I don't really want to remove it.

Your car is amazing. It looks like it’s brand new. I wish my floor pan looked that nice. Curious what Kent would charge just to do the floor pan.

Thanks Steve and Happy New Year buddy. I have about 20K miles on the car since it was put back on the streets. Kent's work is beyond exceptional and is really holding up well.

I like getting under the car regularly to check things to make sure there are no surprises and always have a rag in hand to wipe as I inspect. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

I was without a lift for about 4 years as we planned and had my brother's home and garage built. But we wrapped that project the week of Christmas and I could not be happier for him. We now have a 1,600 sq. ft. garage with excellent lighting, great windows for natural light, HVAC, fully insulated, etc. Makes working on cars very relaxing. I need to get some pictures up of the garage.

Had a great few days in the midwest with family and some productive garage time with the 914.

I knew my firewall bushing was bad so I decided to replace that one with a @ChrisFoley Tangerine Racing version. What a great piece...and this is where mission creep starts.

While I'm in there...I replaced the shift console bushing with a bronze one from Rich @914Werke - those two things really made a huge difference (even though the OEM/plastic console rod bushing was still in good shape) I added cone screws and the plastic console cup bushing from JWest.

I recently picked up a Weltmeister short shift kit from @Bpic and this was the perfect time to get that in.

And since I was going to have the shifter out, what better time to swap my center console for the near-perfect one that I've been sitting on a for a few years. So that meant dealing with the gauges and stereo amp I have in there.

That's a lot of balls in the air and a little bit of coordination.

All went really well and the short shifter with new bushings is like a shifting a different car. I've been driving 914's since the mid-80's and I've never driven one that shifts like this. amazing. Like a rifle bolt. It requires a little more effort/force than before but the shifts are much more precise.

Center console looks great - not that the other one was bad but it had a few marks that always bothered me. Gauges are back in, amp is tucked in place and everything actually works. A victory in itself.

Did the Chris Foley shifter adjustment procedure with the bungee cord and actually got to go for a nice test drive today - it's great right out of the box. I'm lucky here in SE Indiana - upper 30's with bright sun - fun day.

I could NOT have done it without the collective wisdom here and unique products offered by some great suppliers. What a great forum.

Hi Brian - I also installed the Weltmeister SS kit in my car. I cut the shifter arm off and welded my stock shifter arm onto the Weltmeister shifter to keep the stock look. It shifts great and looks completely stock. Also, the stock arm is a bit taller so it is more comfortable for me.

Short shifters were running around in my head because of the long throw of my 67 911. I have to run the seat one notch forward than I'd really like to and if I had a short shifter in there, I think I'd like it. Then @Bpic posted his Weltmeister for sale and I thought it'd be a good opportunity to try one out. It came "pre-assembled" with the base and everything set to just bolt in. Perfect for me. It again has me thinking about one for the 911 - just have to figure out which one. Hearing the Wevo one is not the way to go....maybe JWest?

Today I picked up my 914 from a tint shop where it received a light tint and reverse stripe decals were applied. The car is a no option 2.0 with steelies, so I felt it needed a little something make it special yet still be able to be returned to original. One thing that cannot be easily put back to original is the passenger side-view mirror that I installed a while ago. The last photo is the day I received the car, you can ignore me. Sorry, do not have the know-how to remove me from the photo.

Visibility in these cars is so good that I have to admit I added the mirror more for symmetry than for safety, but it certainly it helps.
