I really want to run a hand throttle. I have carbs so cold mornings would be better.
So I put in the handle to get some measurements. I also wanted to put my console into Howard and with that in mind I realized I have a problem. I turned the handle part over in the mechanism and broke out a tape measure. I still have to put it all in to confirm it will clear but the tape said it will. It worked. Doesn't look too bad. Not sure it would work with a kit, this may
change the length of the rod. I'm making my own parts.

I need to dis-assemble the seat bases, but I had mentioned before that the spring
intimidated me. Looked like a real knuckle buster. I made a tool from a nail, now I am worried how I will get it back on. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) Rotate the arm to full tension, stick in the tool and release the arm and rotate back. I finished with a screw driver. And not one drop of blood. I had no idea the tilt control rod is chrome. I was going to paint them,
got them apart and the covered parts are shiny chrome still. I used a wheel and compound suitable for softer metal and removed the corrosion. There is some staining but I'd rather have old chrome than new paint. Yes they can be replated and no I can not afford it. Ordered 914rubber seat rebuild kit, needs bushings and new roll pins would be nice.

I was looking at how my car sat in the garage and thought it had too much downward "rake" so I raised the front about 3/8". Then I realigned the headlights and took her for a spin. Much better now. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

It is a beautiful car.

I'm not sure how these install, the brackets have all the right angles for this spot but the one for the floor is way too short. So I made it work. Welded it to a 1/4" piece of plate. I'll weld the bracket on the vertical after I pull the tank. This way I have room for perlon felt on the floor.

Got the hand throttle rod hanger bracket made, and mods on the handle done.
I need to find a pivot for the rod end, that will give me all the hole sizes I need.

I finally got the suspension back in and all of the new brake lines run. I've completed the rear trunk and wiring in there. Dashboard and associated wiring is next.

not today but planned for tomorrow:

1. fix leaking #1 push rod tube seals,
2. check and adjust if needed valve adjustments
3. oil change
4. fix passenger door cam actuator, cam broke so not able to open from outside
- this happened sunday morning when going up to Delonega/Cleveland GA with PCA for winery tour etc and it was cold!
5 adjust headlights, low beams still a bit too high.
6. lube rear pivot shafts
7 clean up and take to C&C in Alpharetta GA sunday morning!

Well, James from PMB Performance was in town for the Lit week and stopped by to adjust my Fuel Injection. It was tuned before for Salt Lake City altitude and was running a bit rich. We went for a run around the old Huges Aircraft Site (now Plava Vista Campus) That I view from my backyard. James says we need a second software update. We will have to catch that later

Thank you, James, and PMB.
Best bob B

update on my little list of stuff to do - I know i have not been very active here, that happens with life, moving, and having a car that no longer needs a lot, i check in regular and read but i don't post a whole lot, but I drive my car almost every weekend and any porsche event i can!

So:

HUGE side track saturday, got under the car and did my usual while i am here look everything over, and found that my HE hanger ears were cracked on both sides, completely thru, so that had to be delt with asap, and as luck would have it, i called AA and George was there , at noon on a saturday, and I was able to run down(I live 5 miles from Automobile Atlanta) and pick one up. of course since it was slow we talked about 914s for a bit and picked up some other bits , push rod o rings, door window seal end caps, door vapor barrier, they had id all in stock one stop shop no shipping or waiting. Shawn and the crew were all off so George was holding down the fort.
Got back home and installed the new muffler hanger then back to the tasks at hand

1. - push rod tubes were leaking, #1 seals replaced but also the valve cover was also leaking so no wonder.. also
2. adjusted the valve clearances on #1 and #2,
3. - yea, didnt get that done but i only have like 2k miles since last change, but that will get done this month as i need to flush out the oil cooler too and didnt have time fro that
4. TThis was not too bad ive done this a few times, on the very cold day of 10 degrees 2 weeks ago the cam actuator broke, it was one of the hard plastic factory brown ones, the ones i got from George at AA this week are nylon and a bit more flexible . those last ones were put in just about a year ago thats crazy that less than a year i had to replace them both
5,6 did not get done, due to the time it took to clean things up and replace the seals , and get the muffler hanger done, but i can get those lights adjusted tonight and oil change this weekend with lube too of course---

Made it to C&C , cleaned up the car and put 60 miles on it getting groceries etc and got home to check see that my seals are holding no more leaks from the valve cover or push rod tubes on that side. !!

on to the next big project, installing all new 911 5 lug front hubs spindles M-calipers vented rotors etc from Mr. Stone himself, this stuff has been in the garage for a year and needs to be installed coming soon......
