Starting to assemble Abe’s ( @abes914 ) rebuild 1.9 engine that he acquired from Mark ( @Euro911 ) from his 1971.
Starting to collect more hardware/parts to complete it. If anyone has the following, please let us know and to make sure we get the proper sizes for them. - 4 studs and nuts to attach fan shroud to the case (see pic) - 8 studs (or 4 missing) & 8 nuts for intake to head (see pic) - 1 washer/spacer for fan impeller to hub (see pic) - 3 lugbolts for impeller to hub - 3 nuts for oil cooler (see pic) - 1 bolt/nut for lower alternator to attach to the fan shroud (see pic) Thank you! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() borrowed online pic ![]() borrowed online pic ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I'm getting there. Put a chase in for the frunk cable, shouldn't be an air flow issue.

I also run A052's. Nice tire for the price. Matt The class I run in has an approved list of tyres (sorry, tires!), so only tyres on that list can be used. The three most commonly used are Nankang AR-1 (£470 a set - roughly $630), Toyo R88R (£650 a set - roughly $880. Currently hard to find...) and the Yokohama AO52 (£960 a set - $1300!!!!!!). Prices are for 195/50 or 195/55x15. The price of a set of AO52s has risen by £150 (over $200) in just one month since I bought mine, while the Toyo R88Rs are virtually impossible to buy right now... I think I can guess why. |

Went fishing. Through the long and chase inside the cabin and into the frunk. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) it will work. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

Installed a "new" Triad exhaust to the '73. Embarrassed to say I found it in a box way up on a shelf and had forgotten I'd had it! Sounds great and looks good too... ready for the next air-cooled get together! Don't you just love it when you find "extra stuff" up on the shelf? How is the noise level in the cabin? |

Actually pretty quiet- much less lower throaty sound than a previous Triad exahust I had.
Have never really thought about noise levels in a 914! Especially compared to newer vehicles. Haven't had a radio in either one for ages- can't hear 'em anyway!! |

Woke the car up from winter sleep, and went for a short test drive. All was good.
Then swapped position with the 911, since the 914 will go to C&C next weekend. Attached thumbnail(s) |

Not sure how others have done this, I could not find it addressed.
So I used 1/8” angle iron to try and put back a little of what I stole cutting out that wedge so the oil lines will pass and still be able to get a rocker panel on. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) |
