@Shivers , I use this h2o based Citrus Strip, after brushing on let sit 1> 2 hours and then the black paint easily falls off with an old tooth brush.
Rinse then final on a wire brush wheel. Otherwise that 914 black paint gets warm from a wire brush wheel and gets sticky...hard to work with.
Picture is of my back door / doorbell with almost 100 years of all the painters that covered the brass plate.

yesterday- took it to the Peachstate PCA Concourse #2 for this year at Jim Ellis Porsche Perimeter Atlanta, we had 4 914's in attendance and 30 other cars competing including some beautiful early 356's and 911's which i have had a hard time beating as they are well taken care of and curated by their owners but I was able to achieve the highest score for all Porsche's for the day! very close to a perfect score, not quite but close. I still drive this car a lot so fp have to put a lot more work into this type of show than others probably do..

pictures to be added later. ....

I'm a beliver in the stronger the better, so I add a .125" ga. round tube in one axis, and another tube in a cross axis (through the p-brake cable bracket). All welding done in custom jigs. Mad Dog sheet metal strengthen kits welded in; and a semi-circle ring welded on for trailer tie down.
Small .125" thick gussets added as well to trailing arm bushing-housing. Measure your tire clearance in this area before final welding.

Assembly jigs required as welding heat/ cool cycles shift dimensions around, can't be good.

Those are beautiful, Marty. I agree that a professional would be the ticket for most.
My friend is a professional, and I was glad to have his help. He did the welding in increments, clamped to a welding table. We radiused the gussets (pic) to avoid tire contact. If I had more weight on board, like a six or V8 I would have gone the next step
Like yours.

Installed the following over the past few days.

Put on a passenger side mirror.

Attached Image

The original steering wheel was in very poor condition, so replaced it.

Attached Image

Installed a HomeLink for the garage door so I don't have to fuss with a remote and it also adds a little extra security.

And finally, changed out the non-working Frankfurt so I can hook up a CarPlay screen which streams music, provides me with maps and phone calls.

Press sure made this easier. I just need to find a chisel for the bushings
And into the cabinet.

Torch and a pair of plyers. Heat the area around the bushing and yank it out with the plyers.

Hahaha Thanks (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif) , I missed the "around the bushing" part of the equation and my heat was a torch. Soooo they burst into flames pretty quick. I blew it out and took a pair of pliers to it. I was getting one gooey piece at a time. So I took a flat blade screw driver stuck it down the side and pried up...Fired off that bushing about 15 feet. Glad it wasn't still on fire. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Took care of something I'd meant to do a while ago -- add fuses to the four leads on the positive battery connection.

I bought a marine 4-fuse block, that takes ATO fuses. I also cut off the original ring terminals and soldered on new ones, one per wire. The fuse block is mounted with VHB tape, allowing me to undo the change if I ever need to.

Put air in the tires.

For a retired guy I have too much work (and chores) that keeps my 914 in the garage.

I got the e brake shoe stops fabricated and welded in. I saw some real disaster pics doing my research. So I added another layer of steel at the bottom legs.

this is so smart. i was nervous when doing this also. i approached it more from a spotweld-move-around-blast w air, spot again technique to keep heat from pooling in one area too long. i dont think i warped it
