I've converted my 1976 V8 914 to the earlier bumpers. I needed to install the foglights also. In a previous thread I discovered that the wiring and relay are in place already...even though the car was not originally equipped with fog lights. All that was needed electrically was to install the fog light switch.
The "pad" is also already present where the fog lights will bolt to... (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/farm1.staticflickr.com-20876-1528935200.1.jpg) The new mounting hole needs to be in the center of this pad. Drill a pilot hole... (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/farm2.staticflickr.com-20876-1528935201.2.jpg) ...then enlarge it to 17/32 (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/farm2.staticflickr.com-20876-1528935201.3.jpg) Put the threaded insert in the hole and screw the tool into the insert. Hold the nut while you tighten the bolt. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/farm2.staticflickr.com-20876-1528935202.4.jpg) It will look like this when fully set... (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/farm2.staticflickr.com-20876-1528935203.7.jpg) Install the fog lights. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/farm2.staticflickr.com-20876-1528935203.8.jpg) Then the bumper and fog light grills (these are 914rubbers grills) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/farm1.staticflickr.com-20876-1528935204.9.jpg) Some adjustment of the fog lights will be necessary as you install the grills to center them in the opening and to insure they are lighting the area you want to light.
