I don't this its bias, but the factory wheel choices seem to look the best to me.

15x7 ATS w/205 tires

These were my favorite wheels on the front of my 914. I really wanted to run these, but never could find a rear wheel that would fit w/o flares because of the offsets. I have no idea who made them. Some kind of Jackman clone for VWs.

I know, not narrow body, but these are Diamond Racing Wheels.
They are made to order for about $125 each.

Very strong and fairly light.

For a narrow body car order a 15x7 with a 4.75 backspace.

FYI: the set-up for my car is 13x10 rears with a 4.75" backspace and 13x8 fronts with a 4" backspace.

Never removed since being installed as a dealer option on this car, is a set of probably the most desirable aftermarket vintage wheel in the market, the american racing wheel. An original dealer installed option as installed by American Racing, the four spoke look is a classic. Everyone these days is returning their 914 to the original vintage look and these wheels are recognized as one of the best options of the time.

Authentic EMPIs

They are a two piece wheel "sealed" with a large diameter o-ring, NLA. Have been running with tubes. There is an EMPI logo in the web that the valve stem "points" to. The center cap attaches with the old school "mag" style tabs.

I bought these new from Auto Haus in Buena Park, CA, in 1971 for my, then new VW Superbeetle. Cost: $35.00/each.

Sold the SB and installed them on my first 914, an L20E '72, then on my current car, am L31M '76.

Here is another shot of the American Racing allow "le Mans" wheel. They came w or w/o polished spokes. Mine are painted gold on the inside face. They take mag seat lugs (hard to find).
