Prior to removal of my console, I would just place my iPhone down next to the shifter while driving. Pretty simple, not great for a quick look at the phone but at least the phone stayed put. After removing my console (it had to come out when I installed SS fuel lines in the tunnel and I didn’t reinstall it), I’d just set my phone down on the carpet next to the shifter. Needless to say, the phone would fly around even with the most mild driving. So I purchased a spare ashtray from the classifieds (thanks porsche-tom) and built a simple mount for the smartphone holder that I got on Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06WV9XGY...=UTF8&psc=1 I used 10-24x1.5” machine screws to hold a ¼”x1”x3.5” piece of aluminum stock to the face of the ashtray. A ¼”x1” flathead machine screw is the attachment to the smartphone holder. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
