Just to clarify, I agree with John.

As far as I know there are 2 seperate events.

One is the route 66 adventure and the other the red rocks classic.

We actually have set the dates for the Red Rocks Classic at Moab.

Its fall though:

half day of Friday Sept. 23rd
all day of Saturday Sept. 24th
and half day of Sunday Sept. 25th.

A little bit of planning has been done, although we intend to plagerize some of the driving tours from a boxter group that is a friend of Eric Shea's

I tenatively thought that once the WWC was past, a more official announcement would be made with more details.

Moab is a beautiful rock canyon area of Utah.  We think that Joe from New Mexico (914RS) will be driving over with some of our NM friends (maybe a few texas people also?) and Eric will be bringing some of the good people of Utah...   John Lush will hopefully be bringing some of the Wyoming folk.   We also hope to have you present and anyone else from the West that wishes to attend.  Finally I think there will be a 10+ caravan coming up from Denver on Friday.

june is too hot, what happened to september?

Did we dismiss the Red Rock's altogether?

I think June is too hot for a desert run! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wacko.gif)

I think September would be much better. Plus, we could get a better turn over. I think it is still to soon after the WCC for another major event.
The WCC hurt many of our pocket books.......well, at least I can speak for myself.

Sooooo.........is it still official, or is it still open for discussion?

Has anyone check out the Route 66 trail since this winter?

We have had a tremendous amount of moisture and some of the older roads could have damage! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/ohmy.gif)

I'm getting confused here (no suprise (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/screwy.gif) ).
Should we start two seperate thread for each of these events , the Red Rock Classics and The Route 66 run?

Somehow I never saw this thread! A Rt66 drive would be great.. June is a little toasty though.

So what are the thoughts on East->West / West-> East?
Gotta climb most of the way if going east I believe...

The Red Rock Classic is still alive and well. Gint seems to have it under control. This thread should be replaced by a new official one in the next few days. The RRC will be in September.

There is a new official Route 66 Classic thead here.

I did the Kingman to Laughlin part of Route 66 about a month ago. There were a few rocks on the road from all of the winter rain. I expect they have all been moved by now.

East to West ??? or West to East ???
I guess it depends on which way will attract the most people to join us.
I will start a poll to see if that will help make the choice.

Yeah, I was a little confused on my last post in this thread, but I've got it figured out now that there are in fact two events we're talking about. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif)

I hope to do both, but I have to check calendars.

I would think that east to west would work well. I could blow back home via Vegas (I15 & I70). But that's just me. I'll go vote in the poll.
