I had to buy a new battery and I think I'll move it to the rear trunk and put it in a plastic battery box.
I've also replaced the push rod tube seals, adjusted the valves, changed the oil and filter. I'm also in the process of fixing my trans leak, follow the link.......... http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=99822 |

Tonight I re-installed the shift console and refilled it with gear lube.
I rolled it out of the garage and started it up. It fired off on the second crank. Ahhhhh, the sweet sound of a running engine. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer.gif) Tomorrow night it hits the road. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) |

Drove it to work today.
Dropped my daughter off at school on the way in. It always draws the stares when I pop the front hood so she can get her bookbag out. She tells me that someone will ask her everytime, "Where's the engine???" (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Man, you have accomplished SO much on that 914 I can hardly recognize it; I would've NEVER been able to do as much as you have. That front end is beautiful ... glad you finally scraped off that air dam(mit). I got that bumper (lights and all) from Campbell out in CA years ago with the intention of doing just that, but like so many projects, other stuff always comes up. The mirror issue? Yep, saw THAT setup myself (from previous owner) and just made it work until I could deal with it later (insert years here). Riveted floor panels/patchwork? Yep, my best fix since you didn't notice a MIG/TIG/candle-wax-powered welding ANYTHING in my garage on your last visit. Bondo Sally? That was all the PO before me, knowing I would expect a few surprises once I got into her bodywork (again, insert years here). But I do miss the ol' girl ... we had a LOT of fun pissin' off quite a few Toyohondabishis to-and-from work. |
