Chris did you have a chance to do a mockup on the issue some people are having... Also I'm hoping to get those gas lines soon and have the taco and tuna ship with it soon

We spent some time on the fitment issue yesterday, and took some pictures.
I haven't had a chance to write anything up yet though.
We completed an installation based on our findings. No changes were required but we did use a sealant on the extension tube and instead of one extra gasket we used the same sealant on the top side of the strainer screen flange.

I messed around with this today.
I found the sealing area very tight on my PU, Im sure it varies from engine to engine.
I used a little 800 wet/dry on the bottom 2-3cm edge then some Curil to seal.

Thanks for the pix, Rich.

Looks like you hogged-out the hole in the strainer screen a bit ...

... did everything feel tight and in-place when you secured the can?

I've decided to shoot for 27.5mm total extension, set with the depth measuring feature of a digital 6" caliper I have.
That gives about 80 thou of engagement on the pickup tube.
We're using a thin film of Motoseal (Hondabond/Yamabond) to hold the extension at the set depth and to ensure no leakage.

I think Rich's post pretty much covers it. It looks like the only modification needed is to enlarge the orifice in the strainer screen.

I just installed the taco plate, what an improvement over the old style taco plate, haven't installed the tuna can yet. Taco plate is great (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif)

I really like mine. When I ordered mine, it was before anyone else here really knew about them and the group buy had not started yet. Thanks to you guys, when I put in the spare engine, I'll know how to add the strainer (currently it's not installed with this engine).

Chris - previously you mentioned Yamabond/Hondabond as the sealant of choice for the extension. Can I get away with Permatex Grey?

If you are still interested in ordering one, you can contact him directly at boatyardbuses@aol.com.

His handle here is jonesy, but for the life of my I can't remember his real name. Gotta ship it from the UK, but well worth it in my opinion.

I would like to see if he ever tweaks the taco plate to account for the fitment issues with the extension tube in the future.
