T.C. and I made our annual pilgrimage to the Performance Racing Industry trade show in Orlando today and T.C. was able to score with Miss Hurst Shifter, the one and only Linda Vaughn....

Now Linda has been around the track a few times by now and she could use some R&R work but T.C. knows how to keep his Lady happy somehow. Look at her in this picture, isn't that just the most loving look she's giving him..... Attached Image

So how was the overall look of the PRI show ? Busy crowd with all exhibit spaces taken ?
SEMA was down about 200 spaces this year, but the usual big crowd.

I would argue the crowd was way down on SEMA too, I couldn't believe how easy it was to blow through the halls and parking was a no-brainer v. recent years. I didn't go to PRI this year tho' really thought about it as I figured less crowd, and less crowd = more face time for me with other exhibitors, but just couldn't make the time unfortunately.

Cool show if you can get in... I met both Paul and Erik (Thorshammer) there a couple years ago and it's always nice to meet new folks!

The company I used to work for years ago no longer gets a booth there (the cost just doesn't make sense anymore for them and it's easier to meet with potential clients just walking around) so I haven't had much call to travel to the show since I would help out with the booth and get a fair amount of the costs covered as "labor" pay (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Maybe next year I will skip SEMA and do PRI, been 2yrs now (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) but ain't much to see in Orlando v. Vegas otherwise (IMG:style_emoticons/default/drunk.gif)

My friends that had the booth @ PRI ( that I get the passes for Paul & myself) talked about the big number of people coming up to them trying to sell them things.

PRI moved to Orlando a few years back from Indianapolis. Well this year Indy had a show the week before PRI. Vendors can't do both. Obviously Orlando is better than Indy this time of year, but the Industry is getting fragmented by this stuff, especially with the economy.

SEMA calls this type of show visitor a "Suitcaser", and their bylaws instruct security to escort them out of the show. The big problem is that there is no security watching over this tactic and it is therefore a very cheap way for people to sell their wares without buying an exhibit space. Not only does SEMA not enforce suitcasers, they will not enforce displayed products that are violating the Intellectual Property Rights ( copied designs) of their own members ! If you would see one of your copied-products on display, you would need to hire a Las Vegas lawyer and serve a court order from Nevada in your attempt to have the product removed . Not to mention all of the off-shore counterfeiters roaming the show, just there for the purpose of stealing product data. They even photograph the shipping boxes and product logos. PRI might be the next big hit that these sleazy types latch onto. The SEMA staff needs to wake up and take their industry show back, it's a dog and pony show--and nobody is watching the front door.

It's already happened, actually a couple of years ago. There were Chinese people going to booths, setting up their tripods and photographing products, Logos etc.

There is a sign as you come into PRI - NO Cameras or Video Equipment Allow on the Show Floor. But obviously they don't enforce that at all. Especially as everyone who has a Cell-Phone ( Who doesn't?) has the ability to take pictures & videos
