I was reading this article about the 914 successor. It seems as though that won't be happening anymore. However, after reading some of the comments some of the people made about porsche, the main arguer compared the 911 to 2 other cars and the cayman s to 1 car, is this a fair comparison.

here is the article if you want to read the argument that went on, i thought it was funny the way the guy argues but has never driven a 911. I have never driven one but im pretty sure itll beat out a camaro anyday...in styling, longetivity, and reliablity

You know what these cars are comparable I hope I don't insult you to much by comparing the Cayman S with the Camaro SS and the 911 with the C6 corvette.

Funny how he doesn't mention much about how all three of Porsche's vehicle have a higher power to weight ratio.

whats amazing is that every porsche is compared to a car with higher horsepower, yet the porsche makes it around the ring in just about the same time as the other cars do.

The problem with some of these "news" articles is that they are conjunture with "Factory Sources" which means as much as what is bantered about here.

Personally, I feel that the BlueSport is the "next" spiritual successor to the 914, remember the 914 was a VW / Porsche in Europe.

Also with VW & Porsche stating that there will be platform sharing to save costs, there is no telling what they will bring out.

This article is from May - over 6 months old. All the recent press suggests that the "sub-boxster" entry-level mid-engine roadster is on the map.

And besides, if the reason is the financial crisis, wouldn't it make sense to make a downmarket car since fewer people can afford a $50K car?

What the article doesn't say is that if you buy a Porsche you GET to drive a Porsche!

On the other hand if you buy the Corvette you HAVE to drive a Corvette. Have you driven one? One that's a couple of years old? Have you noticed how many used Corvettes are for sale in your Sunday paper, compared to other models of car? Yep, within a year your ad will be competing with all those others, trying to dump cars that not so very long ago had seemed like SUCH a good idea...

Nice reading. My old guy's perspective is: I know people that own a early z06 and the latest version. Neither seem easy to use the power on the street. 0 to 100 is nice though and at 145-165 they ride pretty good. So they say. For my money the 400hp version is the best all around street version. But my sons sti will stay with it until about 155 and it's hard to say if the z06 driver was still all the way in it. He was a old guy, he didn't try to pass. Actually the caddy was the suppriser of the street cars we know about in our area. He was also a old guy and the caddy is a automatic. For some reason bought fast cars just don't do it for me. The last bought car that impressed me was the 350hp chevy two. 7500 in third always had my attention. I think it was probably the raw crudeness of the poor traction and the fact that it really was out of my affordibility even then. It seemed even then a marginal street car especially with 4:10 gears. The latest z06 is owned by a younger oil man and he is so full of it it's hard to know whats true and not, he won't race but always talks about going balls to the wall but I really don't think the car can have enough traction to be really fast. Still I wouldn't mind a serious ride to get a idea of the acceleration capability the car has. I've never ridden in a awd porsche, if it is like the suby it will be way more streetable than any rwd car with the same power to weight ratio. Any time there are four driving wheels on the ground it should be the best street car.

Out here, anything over 80 mph is moot. Interstate 10 is wide open to El Paso.
