Anyone familiar with Balcones European Motors or Northwest Imports? Just want to get a PPI since I probably won't fly to TX to see this car.
Thanks, Tim |

Tim,
we have several 914club members in the Austin area that can look at the car for you or you can have them send the car to MooreSpeed. I know David Moore the owner. He has at least 1 very good 914 guy that works for him that knows the cars (if it is a 914..they also do 911's/Vipers/Ferrari's.) B |

Tim,
I live in Austin, although I am not familiar with those places. Looks like they are both in far north austin, so thats probably why I have never seen them (I usually stay pretty central - south). Anyway, I would be happy to help you out if I can. Tony Chavez tonytchavez@yahoo.com PS... I also know David Moore, actually worked for him for a couple of months when I was between jobs. John Dwyer (sp?) is his 914 guy, has a pretty nice 2.7L 6 and has been working on 914s since they were new. Both are good guys. |

Thanks everyone.
Tony, The car is located in north Austin. I'm not sure what that means, but it seems pretty far from you. If you would enjoy going to check the car out I'd appreciate it, but please don't put yourself out. I will probably have one of the shops local to the car do a PPI since, judging by the history, it sems to be in good structural shape. Thanks again, Tim |

Tim,
As long as the car is anywhere near Austin, its not far from me, austin is not that big - yet. I just usually don't go north because I work downtown and my shop is south... Anyway, I'd be happy to take a look at the car for you, I have a nice digital, so I can shoot a bunch of pics for you. Is this a 914? Let me know if I can help, Tony Chavez tonytchavez@yahoo.com cell - 512-775-9461 |

Tony,
It is this 914. http://www.nosubstitute.org/914/default.asp I'd love to get shots of what it looks like now - two years later. I will talk to the owner and give you a call some time this week. Thanks in advance for all your help! Tim |

I remember that car going up for sale...didn't know it came to austin though. I remember seeing a nice yellow 914 recently, but I think it was the sunflower color.
Anyway, I would be happy to check the car out for you, hopefully it is still in great condition. Give me a call when you know more. Tony |

The current owner decided to keep the car. Thanks Tony and everyone for your help.
Now if I don't get this local one I will be in the hunt again... Tim |

Bummer,
Good luck on finding a nice one...I will now have to keep my eye out for that car when I am driving around up in north Austin. I would bet there are at least 20 driving 914's in Austin, maybe more, but none are active in either the local PCA or in the Autox scene...maybe one of these days when I have more time on my hands I will try to change that... Yours, Tony |

Mark,
I wish I could go to a DE soon...been really itching to, but funds have not been there. I am shooting for early fall to make one, and hopefully I will be able to make several in the fall. You guys have any good cone dodging events up there that would be worth the trip? I might be able to work that in sooner under the cover of a "family visit" (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) Tony |
