In my previous post regarding a hangar bracket to backdate my heat ecxhangers and exhaust, it was mentioned that I need other heating parts.
What will I need? I thought between the heat exhangers and the body, there was just valves and the hoses. Do these parts differ on pre75cars? I have new hoses on the car and heater cables already on the car. I also still need the hangar bracket. This is one of the small projects I wanted to get done this winter. I also need to fix first gear and replace the stereo. The last project for this year is a detail job inside and out in the spring. And driving it as much as possible this summer (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Thanks |

You will need all the S- tubes, J-tubes,warm air guides, misc clamps and brackets that hook the heat exchanges to the fan housing and the heat control boxes. Look at this exploded view at :
http://www.pelicanparts.com/914/parts/engi..._system_big.htm or at page 14 diagram 1.2 of the Haynes manuel. The pieces are all the same for 1.7 and 2.0 73-73 cars. Only the 75-76 cars were different. Get all the little pieces as a set as they are hard to find new. I just sold my last set today, sorry. Geoff |

From this diagram all I see are parts numbered 13, 18, 19, excluding screws and gaskets/o-rings.
Isn't 13 just the duct hose to the body? What do the two pairs of 18, 19 do? Do they connect the heat exchangers together? PP list the flapper boxes and cables as 70-76. Thanks for the help. |

Yes, all the flapper boxes are the same but they mount on #13, a solid tube that attaches to the heat exchanger. From the flapper box there is a flex hose that mount to the tube that is in the long. #19 is the warm air guide which is attached to the fan housing and directs fresh air into the heat exchanger. #18 is a little cover gizmo that holds #19 to the fan. The J tubes which connect to the fresh air booster fan are also different from the 75-76 style. Once you get all the parts you see how it all fits together to make a rigid piping system.

Actually, I might be able to help Bob out. After I bought the brown car (with no heater stuff), someone told me the 1.7 and 2.0 heat stuff was all different. SO in addition to the set I had of off the 72, I started hording heater parts. I might have everything (except the screws). I looked at my PET CD for a bit and all the parts do in fact appear to be the same part numbers (pre-75/76 that is).
