During the WCC, I borrowed a 914 from a fellow member*
I knew his car had the Koni Sport Adjustible shocks on it and I had never driven in a car that had them (or I didn't know it)...my last few 914s had Bilstiens which seemed too stiff for me. On Friday for the drive down to Monterey with my wife, she had commented on the stiff ride...being the dummy that I am, I made the assumtion that the shocks are already on the softest setting....boy was I wrong....once I did get around to putting the Konis on thier lowest setting it was like driving a brand new car, oh the ride was so much better on the street. As I get older, I do want a nice, comfy ride once in a while...the Koni Sports are the way to go for a dual purpose vehicle, tune them for auto-x or track use and make them stiff and crank them back down for the ride home and keep those fillings in your teeth (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) *thanks again Mike !!! |

There is a reason why I have sold over 20 sets in the last few months. They work.

My Koni reds have worked well for me. Ride is supple but well controlled on soft. These cars are so light you don't really need stiff shocks for the street.

I have never used anything but Koni Sports on all my cars through out the years. My Toyota Echo, A4 and 914 all have Koni Sports. Not sure if they make them for Boxster yet. They are very civil on Soft and give lots-o-dampening on Firm. Coolest thing for me is to be able to dial in handling. With my Echo I can adjust front to medium setting with rears on firm and induce brake oversteer in my little FWD hot rod. Not to mention people at Koni are real. They had extended conversations with me regarding application, etc. They actually brought over first set of shocks for the Toyota Echo from Europe to test for me. They kept me updated and I got one of the first sets for the car avaialble in North America. Shox.com typically has great prices if anyone is looking. I have bought 3 sets from them without a single issue. |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) my koni yellows are great at supporting my body wieght as I lay on the car to check the timing...
I also set them to firm for sanding and letting nephews sit in her and make the vrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrooooooooooom noise! They are the best shocks that have never seen the track! or Road for that matter!! |

Ken,
we are vendor neutral here and I intend to uphold that. I dont have any to sell and neither does anyone else (from what I can tell). If shox.com has better pricing than I have... then buy from them (until we get the ecommerce live) B |

I replaced tired KYBs with fresh Koni yellow adjustables... I had no idea how nice it could be.
Springs and torsion bars when I get home. Vendor neutral... yep, yep. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

Koni's are amazing. I thought my car handled great before on dead shocks. And it did. Now it's SUPERB! Cushy city driving and flipped out *other* driving. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif) Worth the price of admission! DO NOT: ride full firm on Bay Area highways unless you are on the way to the chiropractor (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol2.gif) |

add the 100# springs to the konis and you will have a very nice car for the freeway. brad told me that was the way to go, and as usual, he was right.

Hey guys i have a question where can i find koni red for the rear of my 914? Everywhere i have looked only carry Koni red for the front. What do you guys think about the self adjusting Bilstien shock for street use and maybe a little track use. Would the koni sport be to ruff with my new 17x7 inch revolution wheel with 205/40/17??

Jporsche914, I have the 17" revolution wheels (205/40/17 tires) and koni sports all around. I also have 100 lb springs in the rear, stock torsion bars, stock rear bar, and 19mm adjustable front bar. I usually leave the shocks on full soft for both the street and autocross, because on most of the rough parking lots I compete on, the car actually works better with less damping, not more. The ride is a little rough, but no more so than my stock 2003 350Z (with 18" wheels), and except for watching potholes, does not compromise my enjoyment of the car.

I just put all new knoni on my car and the ride seems to be to stiff. I see no adjustment on these. I ordered them from auto atlanta, I didnt realize I had options. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) I am quickly learning auto atlanta isnts the best parts house.
Any Ideas on how to soften the ride? |

fly, you might have externally adjustable Konis, which means you have to take them out to adjust them. Check the info that came in the box. I know, I know, guys don't read instructions. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)
