Wow this has got to be the most expensive six I have seen so far.
I was talking with a friend who has a 73 911 S that the 914's are going to follow the early 911 trend in crazy values once the 911's dry up especially the sixes. Looks like the $100,000.00 914 is not that far away now. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) |

914-6's model years are 70-72. Yes it is a dealer and this car appears to be very clean and completely restored. I could not find the VIN listed in the add. They list their BS internal number for the VIN.

Someday, 914-6s will be this much, but that that day is Not Today
Plus, this car & the description are off - it has a Twin-Plug Motor ( not a 110hp ), a Collectable but not original Drivers seat and WTF is with those Door Panels & Carpets? |

Let's get to reality here. . . A fair share of non- standard items makes what looks to be a driver 914-6, and that does not equate to what they refer to 'Museum Quality". . .
It looks like it is a stretch from a true Concour competition quality example, but apparently someone did put a lot of labor into it, but in retrospect, they should have spent the time and effort to make it ' as manufactured' correct to garner the money they are thinking it's going to bring. . . on the other hand, someone may pay what they are asking, but that doesn't make it worth the cost they ars expecting to gain admission to the real 6 world. . . Actually, I hope they get it, it just makes the true Concour six's appreciate faster. |

They're a car dealer trying to turn over a car doing what car dealers always do (note the comment on the "frame-off" restoration). You can always post an asking price. Maybe the most questionable person is the one who buys it, not tries to sell it. But then again, they will have the car of their dreams.

Mostly those Konig seats are uncomfy, the bolster come up too high behind my shoulders. And the passenger insert in black is not working for me either.
If it was just a simple bolt in drivers seat though, that wouldn't bother a me as potential buyer that wants an original car. But this has way too many performance goodies to be called original, but not enough for someone that really wants performance... Twin plug PMO manifolds Aluminum valve covers Modified tach Side shift trans Koni yellows in back Bilsteins in front Konig seat But then it has stock brakes and 6x15 wheels (or 5.5x14 can't make out the tires in the photos). They describe the engine in the auction as a 2.0L T spec. So why the twin plugs then? Dealers that don't know about the cars they are selling suck. I say it's a 25-30K rust free driver with nice paint and a bonus twin plug motor, so maybe +5K. 70K, no way. For 70K it has to be a visually perfectly stock original, or have more of the top of the line go fast/stop fast goodies installed, and a nicer seat:) dug |

Back in '04, this car was shown at the local PCA region concours. I was one of the judges at that time. Our rules are for cleanliness and presentation, not stock originality. Anyway, the car was not properly prepared by the rules, although a one day cleaning effort would have trophied the owner. I attempted to talk with him but he was too pissed that he took last place out of 3 in the class. Never came back. He still runs a Porsche repair business on Boston's north shore.

I wonder if that engine has some special bits in it, and the dealer doesn't know, or priced it as if it does but didn't describe it as such.
Looks more like a $30K car to me, if that, maybe 20-something depending on the up-close details. |

After seeing that 23 window VW bus go for near 200K at Barret Jackson last week I think these dealers think they are sitting on gold.
The blue 914-6 on ebay a couple weeks ago went up to 38K reserve not met. It was a so so repaint and in pictures you could see the over spray on the wires. A nice looking car and more correct than this orange one.I asked what they actually wanted for it and they would not respond. Lame ! I think the only one who would pay these crazy prices might be the Euro crowd because their money is so strong right now these prices seem cheap to them. |

That is a beautiful car for sure and lots of work, time and money went into it. But the price is too much, I don't think they can sell it for that, half the price maybe...perhaps in another 20 years or so real sixes will sell for that, but not right now I think.

The fact that the seller fails to post the factory vin makes me question the cars history right out of the gate...
