What is involved with replacing the intermediate plate on my transmission? Is this the job that requires resetting the pinion depth?

My box was opened and refurbd not long ago, however I over torqued the cap or cover for the detent balls/springs and yielded the mag. Haven't had fluid in it yet to see if it's a leaker now but I'm also doing a conversion and could use a plate that has the belcrank boss opened and threaded also so I'm contemplating just changing it.

The bearings were good in my I plate also, will they come out easily for reuse in the new plate?
