Correct.. all air-cooled flat six Porsche engines from 2.0 - 3.6 are the same in external dimension and fit into the 914 engine bay.

Didn't I jut answer this question for you yesterday? 2.0 through at least 3.2 are the same width.

Correct.. all air-cooled flat six Porsche engines from 2.0 - 3.6 are the same in external dimension and fit into the 914 engine bay. I can second that. on my original 6, the original 1970 2.0 motor mounting bracket bolted right up to my 1995 3.6l engine currently install. 25 years, and still the same basic dimensions and bolt patterns. I believe the cooling tin on the 3.6 is a bit different. All the rest are the same. Correct Cap'n?

Yes. 2.0-3.6 are all the same external dimensions, the FI on top is a different story.
MFI fits without a problem. CIS is a tough fit. The engine needs to be lower or the trunk needs to be cut. The Motronic on a 3.2 does fit, but it's tight. Most remove the stock air box. The Motronic on my 3.6 fit after I removed the crossbar on the engine decklid and moved some of the intake plumbing. 3.6 Varioram does not fit without modifications to the body. |

QUOTE CIS is a tough fit. The engine needs to be lower or the trunk needs to be cut. Not nessesarily! I didn't cut my trunk or lower the engine. I modified the air box so everything could fit without cutting for a 3.0L FI! Attached image(s) |
