I am going to replace the non-working horns on my 1975 1.8, and would like to use the existing mounts with little or no modification. Also want horns that sound like real horns (compared to stock). Recommendations?

I used these.

I bought these and really like the sound. I probably should install the relay but they're working fine for now.

Call me old fashioned, but it's tone as well as dB level that counts. PIAA makes a reasonably priced 500/600hz pair that has both.

When I needed horns I went to the local VW parts house and bought a pair of high/low hella horns. They sound great, loud, and bolt right up.

Thanks! I ordered a pair from Harbor Freight. I'm not out much if I don't like them.
