Two cases, two cranks and 4 heads welded together, been done a few times.
May look cool but a /6 or V8 would make more power, last longer and would cost less. |

The 1.6L is an industrial version of the T4.
One of the primary uses was NATO mobile artillery IIRC. Formula Super Vee used that engine for their series for a few years before moving on to 1.6L rabbit engines. Those short manifolds were intended for Solex carbs. I think I have a pair here somewhere. |

The "V" in the case stamping makes it one of the European cases that were magnesium. I remember that you were supposed to run away from those cases. The info was in one of the old VW engine books I had.
