I have a modern day head unit, the 6x9's that were in the doors (grrrrr (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif) ) sounded pretty damn good!I need some advice with some speakers that will fit in Morph's pods that will sound decent. ( The pods are not completely enclosed if that makes a difference )

I also have speaker pods and don't want to make holes in the door. I am trying to figure out a way to make the sound better. |

I went to Best Buy and listened to all the 6" speakers that they had. I ended up buying a set of Infinity speakers. Sad to say they sounded better at Best Buy. The Morph enclosures are not much of a bass box. Plus I always seem to kick them getting in and out of the car. My 6x9's did sound much better in the doors. I also had 6" speakers in the door before that sounded much better. But like everyone else I wanted a stock look. The Morph enclosures do sound much better than stock and I am happy with them over all.

Take some weather stripping and seal them as best you can to the kickpanel. That will help a lot.
Also, you can try adding some polyfill behind the speaker. Speakers are subjective. I like the bass (for a 6 1/2) in the Alpines I am running, but the tweeter sounds horrible. |

the blaupunt (sp) speakers that used to be an option with james sound real nice imho. none of them sound as good as they do in a 'speaker room'.

I've put several sets of the Radio Shack Minimus 7's in 914's and they sound pretty good. That was back in the day when EQ's were common though. Even though they only have 4" woofers, the tuned enclosures did pretty good at low to moderate volume levels. If you really want to kick butt just put a Peavey SP2M in the passenger floorboard! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Speakers need an enclosure to sound best. Without an enclosure, the positive sound wave on the front cancels out from the negative wave on the back. Sounds like ass...
That is why people put speakers in the door; better acoustics. Like said above, you need to seal off the back of the speaker. There is much more theory on size of enclosure for a different discussion. |

Enclosure size wouldn't be an issue. Since there is a big vent in the kick panel, it would be venting outside the car. As long as you can keep the front wave away from the rear wave, you are doing pretty well.
