well you all know what time it is, if it is friday and it is coming from johnpierre. yes you guess it a f1 update and some links.

formula 1 just had a 3 week break after the exciting finish to the german gp. kimi raikkonen almost pulled out a win over sebastian vettel. ferrari and alonso finished 4th. not so good for them. mercedes was down the order.

we are now in budapest at the hungarian gp. at the end of free practice 2 the top 5 are separated by .280 of a second. if it continues like this through sat, then we should be in for a good race taking into account the hot weather and how the tires will behave.

the general feeling is that ferrari and lotus should have a slight advantage over red bull and mercedes. if it is enough to make up the difference in the down force that vettel and red bull have, is anyone's guess.

here is some friday reading for you, i have been a busy blogger lol :

Is Hungary going to enforce the "minimum" pit stop time that they were talking about?

yes that is now going to be in effect. the pit lane speed will be reduced from 100km to 80 km in practice and i also believe it will be reduced for the race as well.

this also means that it will be a disadvantage to make 3 stops, becuase the delta will increase by about 4/5 seconds, so this could change some teams strategy. there will also be a grid penalty if you release a car and the wheels becomes dislodged.
