restoration means different things to different people.
not knowing what skills or tools you have, I will comment on cost. this thread is a must see. http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=16748 review some of the threads in this forum. http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showforum=78 and then know with complete certainty what rust you have before you buy anything. new and rebuilt parts for suspension and brakes alone can run $3000. don't under estimate cost and hours for labor. |

done right typically requires a complete tear down, a complete sand/soda blast, an initial etch prime, car on rotissere for rust repair and body work, then paint. seems sending all hardware out for plating is nice, and painting all loose suspension parts is nice too.
you should expect to be replacing all, bushings bearings rotors calipers cables shocks struts spings fuel lines fuse box installing front sway bar refresh fuel tank from internal rust tires oh, there is the motor and interior, yikes $$$ here is one of my favorite build threads - note lack of rust http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?sho...ic=72941&hl |

car is unibody - all fenders are spot welded on - generally they are not removed.

Ya im taking it apart now I need duel webers for the motor does anybody know were to gets some and im getting the car blasted in a week so im tearing it down as much as I can

you should try to keep it fuel injected if you have all the parts or most of the parts because the engine has a FI cam in it and you wont get the most out of carbs with stock cam - they say. plus FI is awesome when working well.

Disassembly and media blasting is a terrific start so long as you recall where all of the parts go. Take your time and label everything and bag it as it comes off. Also, for your own resource/reference take a lot of pictures of stuff before and after you remove it. Be methodical and formulate a strategy that you will generally follow in making the car what you want. Try to focus on one thing at a time and go logically as you begin to rebuild the car. Don't be tempted by shiny little parts that you find here and on eBay if you are not at that stage of the build. Otherwise you will never make any progress. Good luck and have fun. |

Iv been putting everything into bags and the car is not fuel injected it had a carb set up on it when I got it and it was running but not well so Im looking for the duel carbs for it but the car was done up about ten years ago and we got it for a trade on some rent and then it just sat in the yard for 10 year

because you can pull the motor/trans at any time.
I would say use what you got in regards to motor and trans. you can always install a different motor and trans at a later date. i'd say, get body, suspension, brakes, fuel system, done first. do a compression test on your engine to see what each cylinder has for psi. i'd even say run it with a single carb initially if that is what you have. so you can put your money elsewhere for now. that said, it seems a nice set of dual dellortos/webers run about $400 typically. you won't need the biggest out there. http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?sho...p;hl=dual+carbs |
