Hi! I recently inherited my mom's '74, 914. It was sitting in her garage under a bunch of junk for about 18 years and I am looking for a mechanic near the Cerritos area who can get it running. She said at the time that she had just put 4k into getting it fixed before my sister burned the clutch and left it for dead.

I will also be looking to get the interior professionally done.

Though I'm not all that familiar of your location, if it's not too far away, Otto's in Venice, Ca has been working on these cars forever and have a great reputation. Though 'Otto' is no longer with us (RIP, John), I'm sure his help is continuing to do great work.

These folks know 911 not 914. I would take it to Alex who used to work for Ottos . Alex's shop is in Venice / WLA. His shop is called Pretech. Good luck

Look up Gary Betz in ventura. It's a drive but he has been doing all porsche and vw for 50 years. Plus he's German. I also have a brand new 2 liter plus 44 webers that will fit right in there for you.(IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

My favorites are:

Mechanical - PCH Garage in Sunset Beach Owner maintains several 914's and got several back on the road. Located on Pacific Coast Highway between Warner Ave and Admiralty

Upholstery - Universal Marine and Auto in Costa Mesa on 17th just west of Pomona
