I am a member of one of the Lotus Elise discussion groups.
There are a few similarities between them and over here... 914club is by far superior, but it's nice to know that there are other's besides us! Here are some highlights... 1. The car is a bit of an exclusive, so it's a lot different than a mustang discussion group. Because of the $, you don't get a lot of kids clogging the board which is nice. Sorry Aaron! 2. One member was in an accident already. They raised money to set him get well wishes. A dealer held a canceled car order for him to replace his demolished beast. Some nice comraderie going on. http://www.elisetalk.com/forums/showthread...=&threadid=7919 3. There is discussions of how to stick a V-8 in the car. http://www.elisetalk.com/forums/showthread...=&threadid=8151 http://www.elisetalk.com/forums/showthread...p?threadid=7968 4. People are trying to figure out how to make a cup holder for the Elise 5. Lots of concern about VIN numbers 6. To LSD or not? 7. Discussions about reducing weight of the car (It already is less than 2,000 lbs!) Perhaps URY914 should go pay a visit. |

Q,
Well by the number of replies you've gotten to this post, it would seem the 914 boys don't care too much for you johnny-come-lately-types. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) That car can't really be improved upon like our friend the 914 can. But if they need to go on a diet I can give then some advice. Sounds like you need to get that 914/6 done so you can do a back-to-back drive and give us a report! Enthusiasts are enthusiasts, so that's good. I've always liked the Elise too, glad it's state-side.
Now if I can only get one of these for my 914, now THAT'd be a cool engine swap!!! (IMG:http://www.evansm.plus.com/v8/html/image/d2040-04_copy.jpg) http://www.rst-v8.com/ |

The Elise is a drivers car, not a posers car. Most people who buy them know that, so it should make for a cool crowd
When are you taking delivery of the car? |

3-4 weeks???? maybe...
It's a big mystery... nobody knows... not even the dealer. Lotus has the word communication system ever... I think it involves stone tables and chariots... |

JmuRiz, major wood.....that motor is just too cool...talk about a perfect fit into a 914, it's only 21 inches in length (IMG:style_emoticons/default/clap56.gif) |

March 1st 2004 will be a date to remember for me. It was a mistake on my part. I was offered a job at a local dealer for which I would have been the Porsche/Lotus tech. We agreed on the compensation package and my start date was set at march 1, 2004. I chickened out just days before and kept my friggen lame ass boring as hell computer job. Sigh. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) Since then, I have really produced nothing at work. Hey work (IMG:style_emoticons/default/finger.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/bootyshake.gif) |

I was at the press day at the LA Auto show last year and I sat in the elise. I was totally digging it, it felt really good and just mean. Then I reached down for the shifter and couldnt find it! I was looking around, then moved my leg and found it! Uh oh! They really arent made for people my height (6'4"). One of the Lotus people came over and said (in a british accent) "how do you like it?" and I said "it would be great if I could get it into first." He kinda smiled and said "well, we werent really... um... " then i stepped out of the car and he said "oh, you're bigger then you look" (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I know a few people on the Elise forums and still may put my money down. Waiting to see legit photos of the Boxster coupe before I decide to trade in my current Boxster. If I don't get the new Boxster coupe the Elise is next on the list.
