Sorry, should have been posted to garage
Okay, finally got around to retrofitting the gauges with SMD LEDs. The combo gauge and the speedometer each used a SMD that was cut in half, so they each got two dots; The Tach used two SMDs that was cut in half, so the tach can got a total of "four dots" you have to refer to other posts or got to the Bird Board as how to peel back the trim around the gauges. The lighting you see is generated from SMDs themselves. These pics taken in a dark garage with my iPod Touch. Attached thumbnail(s) |

Very cool (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)
Edit: You should consider painting inside each gauge can with flat white spray paint. This will help reflect light and give the appearance of a more even glow. |

How about painting the insides with Chrome paint from Duplicolor... would that not help to radiate the light of the LEDs better ? |

It might lead to "hot spots" by being too reflective. You want the light to diffuse and bounce around inside the can, so flat white is probably better.
