This is the same as a 914-6 steel wheel, right?

No clue.... I thought the /6 came with 14" fuchs, but if all you're after is for a spare tire then yes this would work.

Yes, the 5 1/2 x 15" steel wheel was the stock wheel for a 914-6. The 14" Fuchs alloys were an option.

914/6
In US delivered cars that I have observed when they were new. Steel wheels 5.5X15, Mahle 5.5X15, Fuchs 5.5X14. Some argument if 5.5X15 Fuchs made it on the cars in ROW. But I have seen no verification. The steel wheels were made by 2 mfgs and there are minor changes over the years. The 5.5X15s were available on 911s 68MY-89MY(73 & later as spares) The first gen 68MY to 73MY will work just fine as they are lug centric. H |

The PDF catalog says:
911.361.022 was the part number for 914-6 steel wheels. .00 for primer, .20 for chrome. Dimensions: 5 1/2 J X 15 H2 ET 42 So early-ish 911 steel wheels are the same as 914-6 steel wheels. I don't see a part number on that wheel, though. --DD |

My 70 six was equipped with the optional chrome 15" steel wheels. The spare was not chrome.

My 70 six was equipped with the optional chrome 15" steel wheels. The spare was not chrome. Interesting...Does the spare date match? What does the COA say? I have not seen a 914/6 with a different finish spare. Worth checking into. H My -6 has a chromed spare, but before I bought it the wheels were changed for Fuchs so I couldn't say if all 5 steelies were really chrome. |

I hear Porsche dealers did things like this back then. Date stamp matches. |

QUOTE I am guessing the dealer took the chrome spare from four cars to upgrade one for a quick profit. I hear Porsche dealers did things like this back then. Date stamp matches. That did happen, although not at all dealerships. Not at least the dealer that I worked at. Also if they weren't on the COA, they may have been chromed locally. Then the dealer usually would only do the road wheels and not the spare. H |
