the early ones (not sure if up to '72) were metal, the later ones were plastic - no matter if black or chrome |

To discover what the grills are made of, I took a pos one and broke it to little pieces. Well, I really smashed it for fun and its made of plastic that is chromed.
Maybe early ones are metal. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/confused24.gif) My advice is to think before you leap and don't blame anyone else for your mistakes! Dan, gonna make it to Korijos? Geoff |

The replacement ones available are plastic. In both primered and chrome. I just ordered some.
There might be metal ones available in about a month..... (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/cool_shades.gif) |

As a slight asside from this thread, I have found that you can repair cracked and broken fog light grills with Acetone. I have a box of broken grill parts I use to build up sets for my cars and for friend's cars.
