Can you all help me? This car is currently at a auto body shop. I have a parts car waiting for me this weekend (road trip) in KY....I just want to know if there was ANY way to make this less ugly for a while. I miss this car!!!! Could I try to pull it out, or just bomb it (drain gas first) or what? I even bought some rain-x for my windshield (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/dry.gif) looky at the electronic windshield washer system..... damn forgot about the headlights....um....well i'll get em from the parts car. OH and I will keep you all up to date on what happens to the car, and when i'm done i'm thinking about either a small chevy conversion (on the parts car) OR just parting it out.

Sure, try to pull it out some. Hook a chain to it and the other end to a big tree and throw it into reverse. A couple of good pulls and it might come back to close. Remove the front bumper and then get in there with a hammer and get it closer, then get a dolly and try to get it as straight as you can and throw a fiberglass bumper on it and a new hood. Then drive it. Tell them its your winter beater.

i did one that was almost as bad as that (didn't get into the turn signal tunnel tho...) that was the job that finally got me to go buy the hydraulic PortaPower... cut a 2x12, maybe a couple layers thick, and lay it up against the back trunk wall. the front parts will push back pretty easily. the hood may be toast but they are plentiful. you should be able to massage it "close" tho. i used "muscle car" pins to keep it closed since i never got around to fixing the latch "right" (and Murphy dictates that the latch will stick shut only when the fuel reserve light is on ...).
the lights can be manually raised and left there; pull the relay, and be thankful you do not have a cross-hood link rod like 924's. we'd all like to be driving perfect cars but few of us actually do... |

(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/huh.gif) i am thankful i dont have a cross hatch link bar thing....(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif) the Body shop guy found another car with chrome bumpers....pondering whether or not to switch to chrome....my gut feeling says stay where I am at and save those parts for the next time i get in trouble (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif) it's gettin fixed! The parts car is kinda still on auction (made a local deal) search evil bay for "porsche 914" and look for a 400 dollar car. It's hot pink (ewwww)

(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/agree.gif) After you have done that, turn the car around, hook your chain to the wing on the trunk and pull forward (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/laugh.gif) |
