I have been looking for real nice chrome bumpers and so far not a lot of luck.
Started looking at the stainless repro ones. They aren't cheap, but could work out real well. Found a place in the U.K. selling them for 1815.00 for a pair with 135.00 shipping Also found them at another vendor in the U.S. {he who shall not be named} I called them and their price is around 2600.00 plus 50.00 shipping. I asked if they were not the same bumpers being sold in the U.K. and he said NO, they were coming from the same place {Vietnam} but the U.K. ones were made in a different mold and were therefore inferior in quality. I would really rather buy in the U.S. and do away with the international shipping thing. But the price difference isn't chump change. Does anyone know if this line I was handed by the U.S. Vendor has any basis in reality ? I know the reputation of the place, but any hard facts ?? |

I'm not sure any of us CSOB's have bought them.
There are some that pop up on SF Bay Craigs List often. Check there first. |

There is a thread on world from someone who purchased. I don't care what the more expensive vendor is saying, without proof to the contrary, I'm betting they are the same bumper.

offer top dollar for nice oems. would you pay $300 per bumper and $500 per for re-chroming? that's $1.6k + any shipping involved. MUCH less expensive.

My powder coating place will do chrome. I don't know how it looks but might be a cheaper option.

Given the size of the market, and the major cost of making a stamp for a press, major being high 5 figures, I highly doubt more than one factory is making these at this time.
Buy from the Brits, it's cheaper and its your money. Rich |
