Was it possible to buy a centre console with a woofer installed once upon a time? I am at the stage where I am working on my interior and would like to upgrade the sound system but am not looking to change the appearance of the interior or annoy the car beside me with window rattling bass! Any suggestions on what has worked well for you much appreciated, especially speaker recommendations.

Not originally, but there have been many homebuilts and AP Performance used to sell one. I don't know if they still do or not.

You have to use a smaller sub IIRC to fit.

I have a custom console made from ebony that closely resembles the stock console. I actually used the bottom shifter section and gauge panel from the OEM unit. It's only deep enough to cover the back of the gauges. Behind that I have an 8" sub pointing toward the drivers feet. Two 6x8's in the modified kick panel pods, a 1000w boss amp in front trunk, and newish pioneer head unit with all the bells. Love the Bluetooth. I'm looking at a couple of small tweeters for behind the head rest now

Take a look at the passenger footwell foam pad.
Making a box with woofer to replace that footpad seems to work well.

I put a 12 inch sub in the front of the 911 and it perfectly vibrates the car.
Decent component 6 inch speakers with seperate tweeters in the cabin, and two amps is nearly perfect....not quite loud enough to make my ears bleed, but getting there...

I will do something similar in the 914 for its next round of tunes...

6.5" Sub between the seats. Just enough room and just a little bass to fill out the sound.

I have the sub box that 914rubber is/was selling that replaced the passenger side foam foot rest and then mounted a aluminum foot plate to it to match the drivers side pedal board. Mounted the amp in the back of the console and it looks and sounds great ! I think theres pictures of it on my build thread.
Cheers

When someone has an opportunity I would like to see a picture of a foot rest subwoofer setup. Anyone willing to share? Thanks in advance.
