OK - for you 914 folks in PCA's Zone 8 - covering the Central & So Cal, AZ & So. NV (Vegas) areas' Regions - I proposed splitting out the 914s, from the `60's & `70's era 911s & 912s & 930s for our Wash & Shine Division (as it is for the higher divisions), & it has now made it to the official list of proposed rule changes for the 2016 season. Recently I proposed the separation to make it easier for 914 folks who want to start easy into concoursing, or show a DD, or just literally prep for display but get judged for potential awards, or wind down from more serious judging divisions (other divs. cover more areas). W&S is the ideal division for folks who want to try out Concours, or not get too seriously deep into it - especially for those who also DD, AX, etc. their Porsches. So it's now time to speak up for that proposal, if you're a PCA Zone 8 member - or would become one - to add support to the proposal. There are some judges out there who may not want the extra work, so may speak against it. Our Zone 8 "Wash & Shine" (W&S) Division only judges on 2 areas - Exterior & Interior, so for it you don't have to prep the trunks, engine bay, nor undercarriage (underbody, lower drivetrain/etc. & suspension). Other PCA Zones around the country may call it something else, & many don't have our Full Concours which judges all of those areas (most call Full or Concours without judging undercarriage). Each Division has different "Classes" covering each of the Porsche models/groups. But in our Zone 8 rules - while 914s have their own separate class as does most othe models - in the "entry drug to concours" W&S the 914s have been unfairly lumped in with all of the other 1960-70 911/912/930 cars - most of which are not driven much, if at all. You can go to this link to read the proposed changes of all Zone 8 Rules - including Concours - & there are email links to speak for/against any of them. http://www.zone8.org/events/rules/proposed.php Cheers! Don't you do Competition Special Interest? That would cover autocross cars and limit the prep.

Don't you do Competition Special Interest? That would cover autocross cars and limit the prep. Yes we do Rob, but that's all models lumped into one of 3 classes - so no separate 914, 911, 944, etc. classes in there. Plus - our Z8 Specials are judged on 4 areas - Exterior, Interior, Storage & Engine ~ 4 areas to prep - same as our Street & Unrestored Divs. Here's how our Z8 Divisions are Judged: <snipped (I had to add dots & underlines to get formatting back (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif) )> Judging shall be in the following areas for each division: ................................................ Full__Street__Unrestored__Special__Ubergang__W&S Exterior .................................... X ....... X ............ X ................. X ........... X .............. X Interior ..................................... X ....... X ............ X ................ X ............ X .............. X Storage Compartment .............. X ....... X ............ X ................ X ............ X Engine Compartment ................ X ....... X ............ X ................ X Chassis Half (without engine) .. X Chassis Half (with engine) ....... X <end snip (I hope the columns are readable for everybody, best I can do!)> Note that our "Ubergang Div." is for the newer Porsches which don't have engine access for judging, so it drops that area of judging. Also note that SoCal Andy is competing this year in our toughest Full Concours Div., which most other Zones don't do undercarriage - only Parade. . So this W&S change is meant to give the 914/914-6 group a chance at hardware on their own in W&S/914 Class + W&S overall in this simplest 2 area Division (some other Zones would call this "Street" IIRC). . For those interested, the current Zone 8 Rules are linked here: http://www.zone8.org/events/rules/current.php . .... & this page has loads of Concours resources linked on it - http://www.zone8.org/events/format/concours.php .
