At what point in time did the '74 914 change from silver dot dash gauges to non- silver dot gauges? Who has the highest VIN # with the silver dot?

They changed when they ran out of the silver dot inventory.

I wouldn't be surprised to find that there were sequences of cars with silver dots, then ones with no dots, then ones with dots, then... In part because the cars were not necessarily built strictly in VIN order. I also would not be completely astonished to see at least a few cars with both types of gauge, because of the way they seemed to just use whichever parts were on hand.

Tech tip says silver button up to chassis 4742915752. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)
My 74 has them and it's 4742919612 manufactured 06/74. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) I prefer the silver button ones anyway (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) |

07045 has no-button gauges, and it was built in 10/73.
