Looking to buy some Euromeisters and all I see is 7's and 9's in 17" rims. Do the 17x9's fit in the rear with AA steel flares? If not, do they need major work (grafting in metal) or just some tugging.

Are you sure you want big heavy wheels that don't look right on a 914?

I have the same rims, except they are 16x9. And they do not fit, as I have 275 Hoosier's on them. Well, they fit but 2mm clearance is not enough for me.
If you use smaller tires they might fit. |

I'm running Fixse 17x9. I have no problems fitting 245x40x17 street tires on the rear
255 will also fit if they don't have the curb rash rib on them. |

Do the 17x9's fit in the rear with AA steel flares? Depends on the offset of the wheels. There is enough space under the flares for a 9" wheel/tire but the offset has to be just right. The AA flares come with a rather large inner fender lip which can be rolled for a bit more clearance. You can also use spacers and longer studs the move the wheel around a bit. But, as stated above, the actual offset of the wheel is the most important factor for this. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif) |

The RS has 17x9 Cup IIs with 255 rubber.
We rolled the lips, but they would have fit without doing so. |

John, I have a 10mm spacer on the rear to clear the inside and a 1/4" round stock rod bonded to the inside of my glas flares as a stiffener. I believe the 16 x 9 and the 17 x 9 euro have the same off set

Rear offset is 16mm. I believe that is stock 911 rear offset.

John - I'd take the subjective opinion that 17's "don't look right" with a grain of salt. To some this may be the case; to others maybe not. Nobody mentioned how the wheels "didn't look right" at the track recently and certainly didn't stop them from taking pictures of the car ALL weekend long. Performance wise, the 17"s are better choice for several reasons - no need to beat that to death. Regarding the fitment, I have AA steel flares and run the 7/9 combo. I have plenty of room but also have the flared rears. I run 245 Front & 275 Rear - no issue. Tons of room up front and I run a .5" rear spacer. All the best!
PS: The weight difference is negligible - I went fairly quick. Tony ![]() ![]() |

Tony, are those the RSR finish Rota Foxes? If so did you have any balance or vibration problems? If not I think I'm sold on them. They look awesome.

I agree the 17's are just too big for the 914. I don't like the 17's on early 911's either. Guess I am getting too old and set in my ways !
I know they are probably superior in performance and tire section has to be good. I have 16 X 7 and 16 X 8 RSR finish Fuchs on my Six. I also have a set of 15 x 7 and 15 X 8 RSR finish Fuchs, but tires are getting scarce. I love the look of both the 15's and 16's on the 914 with M471 fenders. |

They may be the same but mine are called Linea Corse. However, I can "only" tell you they are rock solid up to 158 mph. LOL!
The look obviously has a more modern flare to it but I'm always into performance before aesthetics. I try to blend the two when I can... T |

Cracker,
Your flares look different than mine, looks like the lip has been pushed out. I have stock (un-modified) GT flares and the 275 just will not fit. I would be interested in hearing what is different about yours. I need to get the tires to fit. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

The RS has 17x9 Cup IIs with 255 rubber. We rolled the lips, but they would have fit without doing so. I have the same wheels with 255-40's and didn't go steel flares because they didn't fit; or at least I thought so until I read your post. I went with Mitcom flares simply because they offer more room. Andys Attached thumbnail(s) ![]() |

17x9s Rota Fox Fuchs reps with 245/40 in the rear on mine. ![]() I love the look of the RSR Rota Fox. I heard that they had QC issues. Did you have any balance or vibration problems? No problems at all. Got a couple thousand miles on them during a couple long trips and they ride smooth as glass. |
