Help. I'm in the process of restoring some of the wiring on my '75 914/4 back to original spec (thanks to some previous back-yard repairs with no consideration for future work and traceability). The factory wire from back of ignition/starter-switch to solenoid on starter motor has been replaced in 3 sections, all differing in colour and gauge (bugger). Can anyone tell me what the original factory colour and spec for this wire should be please, so I can replace it. Cheers from Down under NZ.

Kiwi,
You have at least another 2-4 914ers on here from NZ, if you need local help. Cruise around Jeff Bolwsby's 914 websites for good info., as well as p914.com Here's a start on Jeff's - scroll down to electrical: http://bowlsby.net/914/Classic/TechNotebook.htm & Jeff's Harness Rebuilds are here, with more tech docs/diagrams near the bottom: http://bowlsby.net/914/WiringHarnesses/ You can also order a color wiring diagram from Auto Atlanta, Sierra Madre Collection & a few others IIRC. Good Luck on the "un-hacking"! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Cheers Mate! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) Tom /////// |

Per the 1975 main wiring harness schematic, its not a continuous wire, actually three different segments with connectors.
Ignition switch to seatbelt interlock under pass seat is Yellow/Red. Seatbelt interlock to 14 pin connector at relay board is Yellow. 12 pin connector at relay board to starter motor is Yellow. All are 4.0mm^2 in metric wire size. |
