Simular to what occurs when a car comes up for sale and it inevitably gets made into a post then ends up being examined by the best in "The World" warts and all......has anyone in the group ever thought about putting their car in the danger zone only to wonder what those in "The World" would say? What pointers or suggestions might be made?

I'm not talking about the COTM, which is great, what I am talking about is having the cojones and confidence in your whip to put it on the block and receive unbiased feedback about it.

Could you Handle the truth?

No such thing as unbiased feedback on here Pal! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

The closest thing to what you're talking about, is when members show their projects "before" as they get started, then everyone else weighs in with the good, the bad, the ugly ... & even the uncallled for from a few asshats.

And now for something completely different! ... What about the Penquin on the Tellie!? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

Cars that get critiqued are for sale, nobody should complain if they put a car up for sale and someone points out "wrong bumper, has dented passenger door" or whatever, since a PPI is basically the same thing (pre-purchase inspection)

The amount of criticism is usually related to price and value. If I put my 914 up for sale as is right now for $1000 I doubt I'd get that many negative comments or people pointing out what is wrong with it, instead there would be quite a few "great deal" even with it needing work or having issues.

Now if I asked $15,000 for it, it will get picked to pieces. What is different about people doing this online instead of going to go see the car in person?

10-4, I've got two red ones as well.

Thank you for the threads suggestion.

I think it is very healthy and informative when these for sale cars get in your words picked to pieces.

The post that started this thread had nothing to do with value in direct proportion to product value and or condition.

I think I will take mepsteins recent suggestion and check out his build threads......that way I can find what I'm looking for and Mr. Towle can live in peace.....

My shit has been critiqued for years here, and I have also added value ( I think) by answering far more questions than I asked . I have nothing to prove.

I am not crabby but feel free to throw stones , I have very thick skin.

I am the last person that will give you shit about your car, your work, your efforts etc. I applaud anyone working on any car, and I would be more than willing to help, so try and worry about what you can control and don't worry about what others think of you so much, you cannot change that with words but you can change it with action.

So, start building your car and enjoy the process. Tearing them apart is the easy part (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I don't see that many negative posts in people's build threads . If someone is that sensitive about their car or mods perhaps a public forum isn't the place for them.

If too worried about someone picking on your car don't post anything or find a site that doesn't allow feedback (like youtube, one can disable comments)

In the real world not all sites are like Facebook which only allows "likes" and you get punished for saying anything that might offend.

I remember years ago Brad Roberts posted that someone's welded bracket looked like sh!t,. It did, I wouldn't have posted that picture since I have a little pride. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I'm sure once I start working on my 914 not everyone is going like my planned mods, I'm okay with that.

Interesting mods, especially ones that haven't been seen before are subject to all types of opinions. Mine is in the state of torn down with ideas for mods I've never seen before, but hey, you gotta do what you gotta do. I'll take it all as constructive criticism!

The reason I asked Scotty to post my build, "Cairo's 6" is I wanted feedback from members. That feedback has helped me with my build and has changed the course of the build too. Also, it's about sharing the process of returning one of our cars to a reliable, drivable condition that one can be proud of. No underseal and bondo covering rusted out sections. No corners cut- just an honest, complete, restoration. It is my hope and the hopes I am sure of most who post their builds, that we all learn something from them so when we look for a car, or another car (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) we know what to look for so we don't end up with a huge disappointment.

+1 .

I could be wrong but it seems as though, the OP has affinity to post some very thought provocative treads.
As some have posted, its not able being able to "handle " the truth.....it's really in the eyes of the beholder.
But there are some benefits to posting a F/S car and asking for comments. I remember a member posting a -6 for sale. He asked what's wrong with that -6. Many "experts " chim in, and I'm sure he used the tread to position a lower price for the -6. Yes it was a good move, in the end, he brought the -6.
Flame suit on. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/stromberg.gif)

I'd be game.

I know there would be a ton of shit flung at my project, but the only way someone can improve is if there is criticism to discuss items that could be improved.

That being said we have a decent environment here, and I suspect that this will cause quite a bit of drama and hate.
