Nothing but Trouble

How do I check and adjust? Car refuses to start running on cold start. Though FI engine, which I was taught not to touch pedal during start, the manual says hold accelerator to floor while starting. Either way, no go, plus with acc on flor, I get loud pop from aircleaner?
