I need to replace my Mallory Unilite since I can’t figure out why the module keeps burning out. Want a quick stock replacement so I can prepare for the drive to Rennsport in Monterey.
Replacement had to be in working condition
PM me with a phone# so we can discuss.

Mike: interesting option, I’ve seen these in a 914, about the same size as the Mallory
Vince: Thanks for your offer of the stock 1.8 set up too, that would be easiest
Rob: Thanks for the 1-2-3- suggestion, I like the concept, but the order lead time will be too long unless I found one already in the US and available

Tomorrow, I'm meeting with my local indy who has serviced my 914 the past 20 years. I'm hoping he can troubleshoot the Mallory Unilite. If he can't, I'm going to consider Plan B

I'm not very mechanical on the ignition system; but a friend came over to trouble shoot the system. He though the coil produced a very wet spark; even a back-up coil appeared weak. After we replaced the Mallory optical module, it started right up; the next day, I started the car to idle in the garage and after 5 minutes it died. Won't restart like before.

So, I'm also thinking there is something else going on; gonna know more next week

Jim what is the part number on an L-jet? does it still have the trigger point plate? I have a distributor I picked up a few year ago in a box, it was not the correct part number for my d-jet , so I could send it out to you if you want to try it if the part numbers are correct

Phil

Phil,

Thanks for the offer; I'll check that part number. Gotta find my PN list; maybe the Bowlsby site has it listed.
