What harness and switch are you using ?
If a 6 or 911 switch use a 911 3 speed motor adapted to your 914 wiper
rack.

I didn't realize the 6 switch needed a 6 motor. Will the 914-4 motor work?

Sixes always had a 3 speed wiper like a 911
Choose a 911 motor that is configured like the original 914 one.
There are versions with the 'snail gearbox' on one side and others with it on the
opposite side.
Are you adapting a 911 steering column and switches ?

I had a short in my factory 6 wiper in #41 and Eric had to put in parts from a 66 911 or early 911. This was not an easy find.

Use a 914 rack and put the later 911 3 speed motor that looks just like the 914 2 speed. Wire from there. -6 motors are unique to themselves.

True, and if you are lucky enough to find one, it won't be cheap. A$k me how I know (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer.gif) Attached Image

Yes I think you will be ok ,the 944 one has a good speed on full ,appears there is a lot of other motors they may fit within the VW group when they went to 3 speed,if adding to a 911 switch this is an easy option with wiring matched up.
I see no point in replacing a motor @ this point unless it works better, the 914 one is rather (70's) slow (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) .

Just buy a 911 wiper motor setup. Set the 911 wiper rack next to the 914. You will see that the tubes that pass the arms through the cowl are longer on a 911. So take the 911 wiper rack apart and shorten the tubes to the same length as the 914 rack. Then put the shafts and arms from the 914 rack into the 911 rack. Use the 911 motor.

Or, just get a 964 wiper rack assembly. It will bolt right into the holes on the 914, and it sits much closer to the cowl on the underside. You will have to make a support for the motor though.
