Hello, I am new to the forum. Live in Phoenix and recently fell in love with a 1976 Porsche 914 2.0 being auctioned by Sotheby's during auction week. It is lot #236. I have no idea what would/should be a realistic price for this 914. Any advice? Link to listing below

Even though it’s a later model 914 with all the safety and emissions add-ons, if it’s as nice and as stock as it looks in the pictures, $25k.
Curious what others will say. Maybe more given the press 914s have received lately? |

This is one of the914s that Is highlighted as a car to watch in today’s PCA newsletter. They say auction estimates are 60-70,000.

From what is visible, looks like an exceptional condition, original 914. Rare/desirable color combo. Hopefully someone local can get to see it to verify what cannot be seen.
Well north of 35K if it looks up close like it presents in the photos. Condition determines value. |

76, limited number of cars made will add to the value. What I noticed is the carpets and door panels were obviously redone. The 2.0 decal is correct, back pad has been replaced with aftermarket. All signs the car has been gone over top to bottom.
With documentation of the vehicle that can place it as a low miles car (history of service and mileage that is reasonable in chronological order) it could add value. Any major motor work done recently (ie rebuild with parts receipts) will add value. The only think I do not like about this car is what I can't see. The car is in great shape or has been repainted. The hell hole, longs, and pans under the carpets, as well as the jack points will tell you if the car is worth it. Honestly, probably a great car, but with as much attention as it will get, you may wind up paying a premium. |

Appears to be a flaw in the dash vinyl just above the hazard light switch.
Appears to be a flaw in the roof carpet coming loose. Were 76 cars all black on the underside? Most 914 seemed to have body color on the underside. All observations are off of what I think I can see but would need to be verified in person. |

Looks like radio vinyl doesn’t match rest of dash. Plus doesn’t fit properly. That really bugs me. I know easy fix. It is the details that matters.

Very clean looking but has had a LOT of work done to it, and is no longer original. Would be a good buy for 40,000 (considering the fever an auction generates) but for any more than that you could find an original example.
