So I’ve been busy - gradually detailing and fixing a few things.

I removed the battery - to get a good look at the tray and the area beneath the battery.

Good news. It all looks well. A little surface rust on the top of the battery tray. Rust killed, and I’ll prime / paint.

Happy with my morning’s work.

ECU out. Accessed hell hole.

Wire brush. Punched hole in that silly drain plug. Obviously caused water collection.

Good news is everything is solid. Light surface rust. Relief. I’ll rust treat, prime and top coat. Want pita to get you hand in there!

Someone said on here - it won’t be zero rust. They were right. But if this is it - then I’m good.

Thank you. Appreciate it.

I’m looking forward to getting it on the road and some shows. I love that it is low miles and totally original.

Both hell holes painted, and everything back refitted.

Engine fired up - which meant I didn’t mess anything up. A bonus.

Next job tomorrow.

Watch that overspray. No need to paint things that aren’t supposed to be painted.

Hardly the worst time to happen to a 914. You can usually wipe that overspray off if it's fresh.

It’s gone. Getting access to spray was not easy. But glad the hell hole was perfect.

I’d probably drop the engine if I did the job again.

Car started and ran well after completing the reassembly. Relief.
