I am rebuilding my original engine....first 914 one. Silly question, but I can not seem to find the name/part number/ etc of this on any of the parts books. What is this for and is there anything else that must go behind it? Thanks...

Yours has been drilled and tapped for a thread in plug. Original plus were a freeze plug type that were glued in.
It covers an oil galley.

Does that plug go in farther? It may interfere with the engine mount bracket.

It's an oil galley plug. Many OE plugs were also threaded. Straight cut threads.

It will thread in deeper when istalled.
