What do the letters N and G mean near the oil temp module on a vdo combo gauge
(IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) located on the back of the gauge?

Are you sure it's "N"?
I think it's "G" on top - connection from the sender (top connector)
+ is positive power connection on the bottom connector
ground symbol on the left side.
