Some time ago I got information about the original engine number for my 1970 914-6.
The car was distributed by Porsche Car Northwest, Inc., Beaverton OR, and has a history in Arizona and California (?) Then it had registration number WILD6. Used in autoslalom events etc. It would be great to trace it up if it still exists.. Engine number : 6404204 Is it still out there?? ![]() |

Hi Alfy - Just keep looking. Post your search over on Pelican and the Samba too. Run the engine number monthly on the internet to see if it pops up. I have been looking for my original engine case since 2010..... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

My mechanic got an orphan 6 engine a few weeks ago (in NJ). Will check with him to see if it can be reunited. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I know that car…….WOW!
I lived in Portland back then……Bob…..( my brain has dropped last name….but started with a C…(maybe Caswell)…PCA Regional President. Such a cool car. Seemed to recall it having other than stock engine in 1980 so you have your work cut out for you. Somewhere I still have newsletter with it on the cover. Good luck! Gordon Ledbetter (tech) was knowledgeable guy who might be able to shed light on history. He had moved ( maybe Idaho) but believe is somewhere in NW. Just trying to give you something to generate clues. |

Knowing Gordon and Jeff Gamroth are joined at the hip (they are friends and work mates), I'd check with Gamroth as well. Rothsport Racing: (503) 822-5061

Is that the 916 front bumper/spoiler from Auto Atlanta? I haven’t decided what to use on the front of mine. BTW, I have 6405738 ready to install if someone is interested.
Thanks Paul |

With the sharp eyes of Glenn Stazak my case was found and I bought it.
914- 6 eng. case 6404016 for number 41 I had been looking for it from 2007 on till last year. Sometimes, not often big groups of parts are found like in my case. ---- (IMG:style_emoticons/default/welcome.png) My posting last year --------Well, my original 914-6 Engen case for #41 the 30 car off assembly line was found by Glenn Stazak who messaged me that Henry at Supertec Performance had my case. I have been looking for this case since 2007—Henry is Beed blasting it and delivering it to me. It was set up for a 2.5 SS same as the 69 S Eng. that was in the car when I bought it. My buddy Alan S. says I found the golden ticket! I will not put it in my car I guess you can never give up on looking. No, he's in Idaho I'm told. He still tinkers though. I haven't forgot the oil lines. Need to get to the garage this week!

UPDATE ON MY SEARCH FOR "MY" ENGINE:
You guy's wont believe this. I was contacted in May by a guy in Longview, Washington that claimed to have my original, matching number engine. I thought: one more scam attempt.. But no ! He sent me pictures of the engine number, and we made a deal. It does not look good, but hopefully I can build something fun with it (2.2, 2.4 or 2.5 ??) Last week it was delivered in my garage here in Norway and I could lower my shoulders. Every thing as promised, and correct number on the case. Now I need to dismantle the engine to check the condition. |

Buy a lottery ticket! Love it when the internet makes the impossible possible. If you need any heads for the rebuild or a counterweighted 66, or 70.4mm crank I have some available.

I will start tearing the engine down and make some plans for it. Would like to "spice" it up a bit ... I will come back to you if I need those parts! |
