Hello,
I need a battery box installed. I had an idea of adding rivet nuts and just bolting the tray to the body. In case I ever need to remove it later. Has anybody done this? Or is this a dumb idea. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

That's not how the factory did it. I tried it years ago and the weight of the battery pulled the rivnuts out. The tray is welded across the whole top seam to spread out the load. Rivnuts concentrate that same load into a smaller area.
So I wouldn't recommend it. But it is your car. |

I would go for a lightweight fancy new battery if you aren't worried about stock. Free up some space and weight.

I would go for a lightweight fancy new battery if you aren't worried about stock. Free up some space and weight. I was thinking about doing another optima red top like my old car. I didn't think of the weight pulling out the riv nuts. I don't mind welding it in, I just need to find a trusted welder. It was just a thought for a quick install. |
