If cable for engine lid is stuck, what is the best way to open the lid? Asking
for a friend, I'm not around the car. My thought was open rear trunk and back
out the 2 latch bolts.

Thanks

Very few "structures" are dimensionally stable or geometrically invariant. I suppose that in the case of a small sports car, unibody helps depending on the weight of the passengers. I had a Spitfire when I was a kid & you couldn't close the doors if you weren't on level ground. That car was a POS.

First, press down hard…pull cable

Or, take a look at the latch.
A 90 degree “pick” that fits through the grill can be used, with patience, to flip the latch open
