I bought two different kinds of door contact switches, based on what is listed in the PET catalogue. Then when I pulled the broken switch out of my door jamb, it was of the 4-pole variety, which is not listed in the PET at all.

I have not been able to find this part anywhere online, not even a proper part number other than the "8842 K" that is molded into the plastic.

Does anyone sell these?

Or is there a good way of wiring a replacement switch that preserves the buzzer circuit? Or will I just have to disconnect that and wire with the later year 2-pole + ground switch?

This is the relevant section of the wiring diagram (1972), in case anyone is wondering:

Any help would be much appreciated!

Put a WTB in classified section. NLA everywhere. Never did find a VW cross reference for these.

I remember once converting to the 2-pole. Just crimped (should have soldered) the wires into one wire with blade and done.

Something like this piggyback work to convert without changing the wiring?
(or are the switch connectors the smaller variety - i can't remember)

Unfortunately it's not that simple. The original switch is DPST and closes two separate circuits: (1) it grounds the cabin light, and (2) it completes the circuit from the key-in ignition switch to the buzzer and seatbelt light... if you just piggyback the buzzer circuit on the cabin light circuit, the buzzer will sound every time the door is open, even without a key in the ignition... Thanks. I found a pair on ebay. The lack of a part reference is really strange - it's clearly stamped as VW part, but I can't find it described anywhere and there seems to be no Porsche part number attached to it either, or it would be correctly listed in the PET.

Not easy to find as most parts houses have that part number shown with the 2 pole version but...

Here you go

If you have used ones though they are pretty easy to dissemble and not a complicated part or prone to breaking other than the internal spring rusting out.

So the used one I picked up is partially faulty (only one pair of the contacts will close, probably due to rust). What's the best way to disassemble these without destroying the plastic housing? @JamesM

It's too bad that they won't ship to the U.S. I was all set to buy a pair because my attempt to convert to 2 pole didn't work.

My main point was to supply the part number and the fact that they appear to still exist.

Someone has to be able to bring them in.

Let me know if you still have trouble getting them and ill see if i can track down a vendor that can bring them in. I have a bit of a nack for sourcing hard to find german parts.

The plunger/button just screws off and allows the sliding part of the switch to come out the bottom. surprisingly simple part once you break it down.
