So much to work with here... carbs, return lines for carbs, lots of fun.
Anyway I need to work on some upper fuel lines and was going to add a return line. For folks that have done it, what route did you use for the return? How did you make the hose bend for the 2nd carb if you routed it on the rear wall?
Also, where to add a pressure gauge? Between the pump and the 1st carb, or between the two carbs? What's best for accuracy or does it matter?
Lots of threads on functional talk, but I don't recall pics of the work.

Never had one with FI or access to look at one.
Both my cars were modified long before I bought them.
A pic would be nice. I am open to any and all suggestions... just need a push in the right direction.

Its a lot of added work for something that you really don't need.

I have ran carbed sporting cars for over 50 years, never had a return line. Just keep your fuel pressure on the low side, less than 3psi

That's why I want to add a gauge. I have no idea what pressure I am running. The pump and filter are very old.

Get a new rotary pump and filter. Less than $100. I think they are call carter rotary pumps.

I have all the parts for the SS upgrade, pump, filter, etc. I was doing the topside now. Will do the lower parts later this year. Having 2 cars down at the same time is killing me.

I mounted fuel pressure regulator just beyond big filter on drivers side set to 3.5 psi.
No return line used. Front mounted pump so have had no issues with boiling fuel creating any hot start problem.

Same as 930cabman, running 40 PMO's on my 2.2 for five years with only one fuel line. Runs great. Best, MarkAttached Image

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif)
Chris at Tangerine sells the two short pieces of stainless that mount to the passenger's side inner wall (in the engine compartment that comes up thru the shelf) like the OE FI set up, but in stainless.

-Add a Filter under the engine shelf (up in the corner around where the engine bar mounts on the passenger's side).
-Add the pressure gauge right after the SS 'delivery' piece. Then a hose to the first carb.
-Then a fuel hose over to the second carb.
-Loop the fuel hose exiting the second carb back around (to the rear engine tin area) and back to the second SS piece 'the return' that you've mounted over on the passenger side wall.

^^So it's very similar to what the factory did with FI.

Here’s a great tutorial by a well-known 914 enthusiast, Ian Karr. Should give you all the knowledge you need about fuel lines.

This is approaching the battery, tire and oil threads:

http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=323720

http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=362808

I like this thread the best, post from @brant using option B:

http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=360425

There are other threads when you search, but the conversation is pretty much the same.

I thought mine was a little different. I have read the yes or no discussions. I have even commented on several of those. Mine was simply the best way to route the return line with pics. Some chose to follow the request, some not. Thank you to the ones that understood the original intent of the request.

@NARP74

My post seemed sort of snarky, sorry about that.

If it were me, would run a set of SS lines from Tangerine racing through the factory spots. Even the lines that poke through into the engine bay. That way you can use all the stock mounts and such and it looks clean. Once in the engine bay, routing the soft line is easy.

This is what I did for my CIS 2.7. I know, not a carb'd 914, but theory is the same. Using the stock fuel lines for something not 914-4 stock works well.
